Be aware, marriage agencies!

Today I want to tell you about a popular way of scam in Ukraine - marriage agencies. 

     It is not a secret, and we are proud to have the most beautiful women in the world! A lady from Ukraine is not only a pretty face but a delicate soul, sensitive nature, warm heart. And of course, our women are famous for their hospitality and unsurpassed ability to be a hostess, a great cook, sensitive wife and mother.        No wonder so many men are interested in meeting their future spouse particularly in Ukraine. Over the years of my work I have heard and witnessed love-stories: he is a foreign man and she is Ukrainian woman and together they make a wonderful family. 

    Unfortunately, this does not preclude fraud.

Some marriage agencies do not want you to get married all they want is your money. And  usually victims give money by their own will. But the saddest part is that some man  pay for broken hopes, dreams and heart. So if you are seriously thinking about finding a wife in Ukraine, please, be careful.

    So how does it work?

You register on the website of some marriage agency. There are different types of scams. 

It can be unreliable website and you pay membership fee, you pay to send letters to the girls and to buy presents and finally you find someone you like. You start building a relationships with a particular lady, but when you decide to come for a visit to Ukraine - you find out that the girl is ill, out of town, changed her mind and left the agency. You can be notified even after you already arrived to the country. 

    What's going on? 

A hight chanse that the girl never even knew that you have a any relations. So called "manager"  was corresponding with you all the time. The lady was "fake".  Whats the profit: all the payments you made on  the website. How to avoid : try to make you correspondance more specific. Ask about childhood, friends, family, the more personal questions you ask - the harder it is to lie.On the other hand don't make it to look like interrogation. If the girl IS real it can scare her of.  Also look out for pre-written letters, if you ask some questions and the lady sends you a very nice letter, but there is no real answers - it migt be nothing more than a good letter, written by an agency worker, to keep you writing new letters.

     Another type of scam has the purpose to get more money out of you as soon as you come to the city. The dates that cost money. You pay for meeting girl who get paid to meet with you. They don't look at you as at the potential husband they look at you as at the moneybag. What can warn you: the agency can not provide the full profile of the girl, photoes of the girl are too erotic, all the girls are young ( young girls don't hurry to become a housewife, and if agency don't work with older women it is mostly fraud, as young girls attract more clients).  The lady asks for gifts or tells you how bad her life is, how desperately she needs new phone, computer, money to study, e.t.c - the is a professional beggar.

    In order to do the right thing.

If you are really interested in finding a wife, you can follow my advice.   Be ready to go further than just one date - engagement - marriage.

Meet with the lady in different atmospheres, start with restaurant, but on the next date go the the art exhibition, excursion, let her show you her favourite places, go to the book store, visit concert. Try doing something you would like to do with your spouse. Take your own translator ( or better your personal assistant), this way translator wont be as interested in this date, as the one from agency.    Make sure you know the money policy from the begining, do you pay for the next dates and how much, if  you go back to your country can you e-mail directly to the ladies e-mail and other. Leave tips, the lady might think that you are greedy, if you dont leave tips ( usually 5% - 10%)/ Noone wants to have a greedy husband. Make a present to the lady you like, make it something small: you can choose a parfume together, a wallet, earrings, nice picture, an umbrella - somethink from you that will remind about your time together. Try to show your personality and look for reaction, it is easy to guess if the person is interested in you.
