Dinner time - or where to eat in Kiev.

   Ukrainian cuisine is unique and tasty. But tastes are different. So if you are not ready for eating local food only do not worry. 

   Here you can find so popular European menu almost in every restaurant. And you can find almost all kinds of restaurants: Italian, Spanish, Greek, Mexican, Indian, Chineese, Japaneese and even American.

  Some restaurants may be called the piece of art - you should visit them just to say you have been there. Interesting design, unusual decor and memorable atmosphere will turn your meal into an event. Some restaurants also have special entertaining programs. 

Be aware, marriage agencies!

Today I want to tell you about a popular way of scam in Ukraine - marriage agencies. 

     It is not a secret, and we are proud to have the most beautiful women in the world! A lady from Ukraine is not only a pretty face but a delicate soul, sensitive nature, warm heart. And of course, our women are famous for their hospitality and unsurpassed ability to be a hostess, a great cook, sensitive wife and mother.        No wonder so many men are interested in meeting their future spouse particularly in Ukraine. Over the years of my work I have heard and witnessed love-stories: he is a foreign man and she is Ukrainian woman and together they make a wonderful family. 

    Unfortunately, this does not preclude fraud.

Some marriage agencies do not want you to get married all they want is your money. And  usually victims give money by their own will. But the saddest part is that some man  pay for broken hopes, dreams and heart. So if you are seriously thinking about finding a wife in Ukraine, please, be careful.

Monument "Motherland" in Kiev

   Taking the advantage of warm nice days we visit interesting places in Kiev to tell you more about them. 

   Last week we visited the monument "Motherland".  

   Statue "Motherland", which stands in Kiev on the right bank of the Dnieper. It is a part of exposition of the "National Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945." that was opened in 1981, on the Day of Victory complex was opened by CPSU General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev.

   The sculpture is installed on the Dnipro River, so the figure of the motherland is visible even from the most distant points of Kiev. An interesting fact is that the height of the monument exceeds the height of the monument to the Statue of Liberty in America. The monument is 4th lagest statue in the world, when the Statue of Liberty is only 6th. 

  The sculpture of the Motherland from the pedestal to the tip of the sword reaches 62 meters and overall height with pedestal is 102 meters. In one hand she has a 16-foot, 9-ton sword in the other - shield size 13 by 8 m that weigs 13 tons with the coat of arms of the Soviet Union on it. Skeleton sculpture begins at a depth of 17.8 m, which takes concrete well diameter of 34 meters. The total mass of all-welded construction reaches 450 tonns. There are working elevators in the middle of the statue.

Kiev Pechersk Lavra - architectural masterpiece

   Kiev called the city of domes. In fact, the church architecture of Kiev captivates and lures. None of the pilgrims or just a tourist will not remain indifferent to its beauty and grandeur. 

   A special place among ecclesiastical architecture takes the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.

   The wonderful ensemble of the monastery, crowned with almost hundred-meter bell tower - it is an integral and significant part of the skyline of the city,that witnessed many generations.

   Kiev Pechersk Lavra is one of the first monasteries in Kiev Rus. Founded in 1051and to this day is a testament to the talent and effort of many people. The monastery became the center of Slavic Christianity, and a place of pilgrimage.

   Easter holidays brought us warmth and beauty of true Spring. Our family does a little traveling around Ukraine these days - we are visiting Kherson. Soon we come back to Kiev - back to busy life in a big city. And soon you will see new interesting articles about Ukraine. And for now - enjoy some photos.

Euro 2012 in Ukraine!

    Today in Ukraine, everyone lives in anticipation of  Euro 2012. Some more, some less, but still waiting. There are only two months before the momentous event.

     Carrying out of Euro 2012 Poland and Ukraine will share. In Ukraine four cities are hosting soccer matches: Kiev, Lviv, Donetsk and Harkov.

    Olympic Stadium in Kiev is - one of the best stadiums where football matches will take place during Euro 2012. The first match on its field will be held on June 11 between the teams of Ukraine and Sweden. On the same day in Donetsk the team of England will perform against the team from France. Prior to that, in Kharkov, the Netherlands play against Denmark, in Lviv, Germany plays against Portugal. During the entire period of the Euro 2012 championship in Ukraine will be held 16 matches. One of which will be the Final.
